Brent Carbonell (he/him)
Director of Programs and Services
brent.carbonell@weareAurelia.ca

Brent Carbonell has written in several New York Times publications (mostly filling in the crosswords or doodles in the margins). His superpower is stealing other people’s stories and telling them like they are his own, although he does eventually credit his sources when he can remember them. He has worked in the field of Child and Youth Care for a decade, both in direct care and management, and has found his niche as an educator. He likes to describe himself as a muse, working with a passion to inspire people to bring out their best.
Growing up in a military family, Brent has lived across Canada, but embraces the coast as home. He enjoys the outdoors, and would be an excellent swimmer if the ocean wasn’t so cold. He holds an honours degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland, and is currently an MSc student in the University of Strathclyde’s Child and Youth Care Studies program. He is a certified trainer/educator in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training, Transformational Collaborative Outcomes Management, and the Children and Residential Experiences programs.
Brent has an eye for design, a flair for writing, and an unending curiosity about the world and the people in it. He believes that strong relationships and good deeds are what matters, and that the rest is just filler.
