Christina Murphy
Program Specialist
[email protected]

Christina hails from St. John’s, NL, where she earned a B.Sc. in Psychology and a Bachelor of Social Work. Christina secured her first professional role as Program Coordinator of FASD Services for Health Canada in Natuashish, NL. There, Christina first observed the impact of multigenerational trauma on Indigenous populations, developed a passion for working with Indigenous groups, and began her self-directed journey to learn everything she could about trauma-focused service delivery. This role also gave her the opportunity to serve as a member of the FASD NL committee for two years. Christina moved on to work with Nova Scotia's Mi’Kmaw Family and Children’s Services, an experience that reinforced her belief in the strength and capacity of Indigenous communities to develop community-sustained services.
When the ocean air and rugged landscape started beckoning, Christina returned to her home province to work with the provincial government in child protection and behavioural management. When a position to manage a non-profit family support program was offered to her, Christina jumped at the chance to realize a personal passion of hers- supporting vulnerable parents and strengthening families.
This professional journey has led to what Christina describes as her dream job, her current role as Program Specialist with Aurelia, where she gets to combine her passions of working alongside Indigenous groups, community capacity building, strengthening families, and supporting cultural ties. Christina loves dogs, hiking, and dancing up a storm. Her favorite ice cream flavor is lime sorbet and she will never say no to a plate of fries, dressing, and gravy.
