As many of you already know, the numbers of Innu children and youth in the care of CSSD are staggering. Because the placement options in Sheshatshiu and Natuashish are maxed out, it is all too common for children to be removed from their communities and placed in Homes on the island or even outside of our province.
This leaves them disconnected from their
community, language, and culture. In order to help keep their children at home, Mushuau Innu First Nation (the band in Natuashish) is working with Aurelia to set up an Emergency Placement Home in the community. This is a capacity-development project - there are no trained Child and Youth Care Workers in Natuashish... yet.

Here's where you come in!
Between Sept 10th and Oct 5th, 2018, 10 Innu CYCW trainees will be travelling to St. John's to learn from Blue sky's experienced staff.
