Description
Good policy, implemented well and managed effectively, ensures an organization is operating properly and that the needs of children, youth and families are being served. It holds management accountable and stores organizational knowledge in a way that is accessible to everyone. Great policy does all this while also capturing the voice, values, and mission of your organization.
Best practice indicates that organizational policy should be reviewed annually to ensure it remains relevant and accurate, but it is often challenging for team members working in the everyday operational reality of an organization to find the time to take the deep dive needed to do this effectively.
Aurelia works with client organizations to produce and promote values aligned policy that is accessible, appropriate, and fulfills its intention.
Through discussion with front-line and management staff, we find out where existing policies are and are not working and work together to improve outcomes. Like all Aurelia’s services, this is individualized to your organization’s needs; we can provide small recommendations for changes or update your policy manual completely.
Where new policy creation is required, Aurelia works side by side with your organization to facilitate the development of policy that is appropriate to your organization, aligns with vision and values, and speaks in your organizational voice.
We can assist in ensuring your new and improved policies receive the external review required to ensure they do not contradict labour & corporate law and we can support your exploration of alternative and accessible formats such as Braille or translation.
We help leadership manage the organizational change that comes with new or updated policy, drafting communication plans and crafting clear messaging explaining why strong policy is important, beyond a check box or compliance exercise.
Once new and updated policies have been fully implemented and in use for a period of time, Aurelia can complete an evaluation and the work with you to make any changes necessary to ensure that your desired outcomes are being reached and that you continue to meet the needs of the children, youth, and families that you serve.
