PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT
Quality programming is at the heart of child and youth care practice. Program planning can help organizations to develop and implement activities, routines, and structure that are inclusive, trauma-informed, predictable, and which allow children and young people to feel safe, regulated, and cared for. This practice supports the development of healthy attachments and strong relationships with caregivers, which is a key aspect of a child and youth focused approach. Programs developed with care and intention create environments where children and young people can feel safe to learn, play, grow, and thrive.
Aurelia supports organizations to develop and improve their programs using our unique Program Development Toolkit. The Toolkit has been designed to assist communities and organizations in identifying and developing their capacity to create, implement, and refine programs for Indigenous children, youth, and families.
Successful program development requires the involvement of a wide range of agency staff and expertise. Through a series of discussions and workshops facilitated by the Aurelia team, participants at all levels of the organization will engage in a supported process of guided program assessment, planning, and development which will include consideration of your organizational vision and values, resource allocation, logistics and administration, training, staffing and the wider community beyond the structure of your individual organization.
Only you know how to care for your children and youth in a way that is true to your community, culture, and traditions. By working with you through the facilitated use of the Program Development Toolkit, Aurelia will provide the process and structure for your teams to tap into this unique knowledge, applying local and traditional skills and expertise, to create programs that are functioning and sustainable and that hold your culture at their heart.
